Willis achieves new PB in ATP World Rankings15th March 2013
Marcus Willis achieved a career high world ranking after reaching the Quarter Finals of the main draw at the Futures event in Bath this week. When the new rankings are released on Monday 18th March, Marcus is on course to be ranked at number 558. Since signing a sponsorship agreement with A1 Pharmaceuticals towards the end of 2012, and under the personal management of A1 managing director Gary Lewis, Marcus has put in a string of brilliant performances. A1 are funding 30 tournaments for Marcus in 2013, and in the first 7 futures events of the year, Marcus has already secured a maiden tournament win at this level, in Glasgow, as well as reaching the final of Shrewsbury and the semis of Preston.
With the help of Gary’s management, and the support team that is now built around Marcus, these performances have seen Marcus climb an incredible 454 places in the world rankings since the beginning of the year. Gary recognised Marcus’ potential, after the LTA withdrew Marcus’ funding, but the rapid success Marcus has had, has surprised even Gary. Gary has re-appraised the target for Marcus, setting Marcus the goal of breaking into the world’s top 400 by the end of 2013.
Marcus is sponsored by A1 Pharmaceuticals PLC (www.a1plc.co.uk, 01708 528900) and personally managed by its founder Gary Lewis.
