Queens Award reception – 13th November 201214th November 2012
We were driven to Buckingham Palace in our Rolls Royce silver seraph by our driver Pele .
The car drew a lot of attention and looked very much at home at the palace .
Photographs were not permitted inside the Palace but were allowed in the courtyard where a number of photographs were taken of Carmen & myself next to the Rolls with the palace in the background .
Carriages were allowed to be driven right up to the palace and we literally stepped onto a red carpet which lead up to the Grand entrance.
The Queen was busy speaking to as many people as possible, an old lady from East Kilbride slipped in front of Carmen at the last minute and the Queen stopped and talked to the lady.
The Queen was smaller than i expected and looked in excellent health, she stopped to speak to as many people as possible and frequently sipped water .
Prince Michael of Kent had a long chat with Carmen & myself about the company and the sector, he was fascinated by the fact that we founded the company in Lambeth, a stones throw away across the river .
After the reception we returned to Lambeth and enjoyed a short reception at the German pub in nearby Lambeth walk in black prince road, the area where the founders spent their childhood and met at the local Methodist church .« Back to News
