A1 recognised in Queens Birthday honours list

A1 Pharmaceuticals Plc has been honoured with a Queen’s award for Enterprise which will be conferred on Her Majesty the Queens Birthday Saturday 21st April 2012.

The Queen’s awards for Enterprise are one of Britain’s most coveted business awards and A1 has been honoured for its outstanding contribution to International trade.

Managing Director and Founder Pharmacist Gary Stephen Lewis is quoted as saying that it is always nice receiving recognition for my team’s achievements but to receive an award of this magnitude, on the recommendation of our Prime Minister David Cameron is particularly satisfying.

Our founder Gary Stephen Lewis felt the following famous business quote captured
the moment:

“Coming together is a beginning, Keeping together is progress, working together is success “ -Henry Ford.

International trade at  A1 has demonstrated 139% growth in overseas sales during the previous 3 years including consecutive listings in the Sunday Times International fast track 100 and 200.

A1 Pharmaceuticals Plc was founded by Pharmacist Gary Stephen Lewis & his wife Carmen in May 1986 from humble beginnings and only £2250 of savings after failing to get a £1500 Bank start up loan it’s now a thriving Globally trading Pharmaceutical Wholesaler with record annual sales of £ 47 million in its 25th Silver Anniversary year (1987-2012) which coincides with the joint celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee (1952-2012).

About the Queens Award

The Awards were inaugurated in 1966 as The Queen’s Award to industry but has been renamed as the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for which A1 Pharmaceuticals has been a winner for its outstanding performance in International Trade.

The corporate Awards were originally instituted by Royal warrant following the recommendations of a Committee chaired by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

Each year Her Majesty The Queen makes the Awards on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry, commerce, and the trade unions. The Queens Honours list is announced annually on 21st of April, The Queen’s Birthday.

The Queen will hold a reception honouring the winning companies at Buckingham Palace which the founders will attend on behalf of the company.

Presentation ceremonies are conducted normally at the winners’ premises, often by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County as the HM The Queen’s representative.

The Awards consist of a Grant of Appointment and a presentation of a crystal bowl bearing the Emblem of the Queens award.

Successful organizations are entitled to fly the Queen’s Award flag and use the emblem to demonstrate the Queens royal approval.
