A1 Pharmaceuticals Doubles Duo Hit Hat Trick of Back to Back Futures Titles23rd September 2013
Marcus Willis sponsored by A1 Pharmaceuticals and Doubles Partner Lewis Burton win their 3rd consecutive doubles futures title in the space of 3 weeks.
The A1 Tennis Academy Captain Marcus Willis and his partner Junior Wimbledon Finalist and Kent No.1 Lewis Burton added another title to their names after victory at the ITF doubles futures in Meshref, Kuwait. This adds to the titles won by the duo at Sheffield and Roehampton in recent weeks. The partnership is showing real promise at an early stage, as the pair look to continue their current form into F2 and F3 in Kuwait.
After straight forward wins in the early stages, the pair prevailed in a tough semi-final against the all Kuwait Pair and No.3 Seeds Mohammed Ghareeb and Abdullah Maqdas, edging the final set tie-breaker to reach their third consecutive final together. In front of a healthy crowd the all British pair later captured the title in a hard thought battle against the No.2 Seeds Americas Patrick Davidson and Indian Ace Saketh Myneni 6-4, 7-5.
The Partnership which is being encouraged and supported by Gary Lewis and Sponsor A1 Pharmaceuticals Plc who are hoping to guide the duo into the top 100, has really hit the ground running, with 3 futures doubles titles out of 3 attempts, boasting a 100 per cent record.
Gary Lewis went on to quote ” With the introduction of the right specialist doubles programme that I am currently planning, this pair are without doubt in my opinion a future Davis Cup pair and Grand slam title contenders. The pair are already arguably GB best doubles pair at 23 years & under. Doubles players with modern health & fitness program’s can peak at 35-36 years so they have plenty of time to fulfill their not inconsiderable potential
Marcus and Lewis have now earned 26 Doubles futures titles between them in their short careers. Achieving these kinds of results without a regular doubles coach shows that these two pro tennis players, with the right support, could become the future All GB No.1 Pair.
